Graphic design is without a doubt the most universal of all the arts. We see it all around us, explaining, decorating and identifying. We see graphic design everywhere we go, everything we read. Product packaging in the stores and supermarkets, flyers, signs, billbords, advertisements, magazines and even on our clothes. Graphic design performs a number of functions. It sorts and differentiates - it distinguishes one company or organisation and even one nation from another. It acts on our emotions, and helps to shape how we feel about the world around us. Imagine a world with no graphic design. You not even be reading this now, there would be no internet, no magazines and certainly no newspapers. Without graphic design we would receive all our information by spoken word. So to put it simply, graphic design is the backbone of our modern world. |
